Beautiful Girl

This weeks challenge over at Lasting Memories was difficult for me.  The challenge is to use pink, ribbon and lace on your layout.  Pink and ribbon easy peasy, lace, well that through me for a loop.  I don't have lace and how was I going to incorporate it into a layout.  Well, as I was clearing out my daughters summers clothes I came across an old pair of leggings with lace on the bottom.  You see where I'm going with this don't ya.  I cut the lace off, she didn't need them and they had a hole so you could call this recycling to suit mommy's crafting addiction.  The layout I made is not typical of my scrapbook layouts.  It's more shabby chic or vintage.  I usually stick to a clean, simple Cricut die cut look.  Sorry I don't know the scrapbooking terms for all of this so I'm totally making this up as I go.  Anyway, my layout is not my usual style but sometimes we need a challenge to get us to do somethin' a little different.  My layout is missing the photo because I haven't ordered a copy yet but I have a beautiful picture of my daughter from the summer.  She is in my parents backyard smelling flowers.  So pretty!  One of those pictures that makes here look so calm and innocent.  Yeah right!

The mat for the photo looks so red in the pictures but it actually matches the deep pink of the base paper.   Two things I love about this layout that most won't notice,  the green paper has music notes on it which goes perfectly with my title "You make my heart sing".  Second, one of the hexagons had room for some  journaling and it said "happy"on it.  My daughter certainly makes my heart sing and she is happy and girly like this layout.

Here Fishy Fishy Fishy

Another scrapbook page for you.  I think I'm starting to enjoy scrapbooking more than card making.  I feel so much satisfaction when I complete a page.  Another thing checked off my list and another memory to cherish.  Today's scrapbook page is one for the hubs.  He finally has a page all to himself in the book.  This is a picture of him (name and face are blocked for privacy) on a charter fishing boat in June.  It was a business trip that I think was more fun than any other business trip he's taken.  He caught eight fish total.  Way to go, babe!   We enjoyed the fruits of his labor by eating these fish over the summer.  The charter boat fillets and packages the fish for you.

Sorry it's so blurry, not sure what happened

Look at the size of those fish!

I like this picture because it shows the hook attached to the word fishy.

My title Here Fishy, Fishy, Fishy

Sorry my pictures are so bad.  They actually looked a lot better on my camera.  I followed the sketch at Artful Delight.  It was super easy and allowed me to layer some paper for the side banners.

Movie and a Scrapbook

Happy Friday!  So happy the weekend is upon us.  When I checked out the Lasting Memories challenge this week my head was swarming with ideas.  The challenge is "Movies"!  Use a title or quote from a movie or anything related to a movie.  I thought of the 80's hit, Splash, for a fun summer page, then I found a great pic of my daughter and thought of Pretty Woman or Pretty in Pink.   As you can tell my mind went straight to the 80's.  I don't know why.  So instead I decided on a layout titled "Breakfast Club".  If you grew up in the 80's you probably watched this movie a million times.  It was a good flick and even better to watch now.  Over the summer I took a picture of my husband and son out on our deck eating breakfast together.  I'm not a great photographer (as you can tell by my blog pics) but this picture came out great.  The lighting was perfect and it really showed off my sons green eyes and my husbands blue eyes.  They are both in the pj's and have bed head.  One of those random pictures that you just look at and smile because it was a nice quiet morning and they were bonding together over a simple bowl of cereal.

My layout came together very quickly.  The only item I cut with my cricut was my title.  I used a new free font that I installed recently, smiley monster.  I love the way it looks, like a little kids handwriting.  The rest of the papers and die cuts are from a K&Company 8X8 kit I found on clearance at Michaels.  I added some Recollections flowers and a little bling.  I know a boy layout shouldn't have bling but I can't help myself.  I seriously think I'm addicted to that stuff.  Wish it came in more colors too. I'm going to do some journaling on the sunshine paper and I'm debating if I should add the month and year to the fliers on top.  What do you think?
Enjoy your weekend!

Cup of Joe

Happy Monday!  I'm a little perky today, thanks to two cups of coffee.  Lovin' it!
I have a cute shaped card to share today.   It's actually a gift card holder that I've been wanting to make for some time.

I followed the instructions on carissawiley's you tube channel.  I think I like her gift card holder better.  Next time I will add a nice pattern paper belly band.  I'm hoping to make a more of these gift card holders for the holidays, new moms and teachers.  They are easy, fast and much better than the Dunkin Donut holder.  I hope my neighbor likes it.  She deserves a little something special.
